John, 14

21. He who has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me; and he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him."

St. John 14 is one of the best known chapters of the Gospel of John, for in Him Jesus says goodbye to his disciples before his arrest and death, promising that he will send the Holy Spirit to comfort and guide them. He also claims to be the way, the truth and the life, and teaches about his relationship with the Father and the importance of love for his commandments. Based on these themes, here are five verses of the Bible that relate to the chapter of John 14:

John 16:7: "However, I tell you the truth, Let me go, because if I am not, the Comforter will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him." In this verse, Jesus reinforces the promise that he will send the Holy Spirit to guide and comfort his disciples, as He teaches in John 14:16-26.

John 10:30: "I and the Father are one." In this verse, Jesus affirms his unity with the Father, as well as in John 14:9-11, when he says that the one who saw him saw the Father, and that the words that speaks are not his own, but of the Father who sent him .

1 John 5:3: "For this is the love of God, Let us keep His commandments; and His commandments are not heavy." In this verse, the apostle John teaches about the importance of love for God's commandments, that Jesus emphasizes in John 14:15-24, when he says that he who loves him will keep his commandments and that he who does not love them does not keep him.

John 14:6: "Jesus said unto him, I am the way, and the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father but for me." In this verse, Jesus teaches that He is the only way to the Father, and that truth and life can only be found through Him. This message is reinforced in John 14:1-4, when he says he will prepare a place for his disciples at his father's house.

John 14:27: "I leave you peace; my peace I give you; I will not give it as the world gives it. If you do not turbid your heart, nor be affected." In this verse, Jesus promises to his disciples the peace that only He can give, as He teaches in John 14:27-31, when he says he will not leave them orphans and that they need not fear.
