Chapter 4 of the Gospel of John reports the meeting of Jesus with a Samaritan woman next to the well of Jacob. 1 Corinthians 3:6: "I planted, Apollo watered, but it was God who gave the growth." This verse refers to the harvest metaphor Jesus uses during the conversation with the Samaritan woman, showing that the seed he planted will germinate to eternal life.
