Nehemiah 7 reports the organization of the people after the reconstruction of the walls of Jerusalem. Nehemiah is in charge of selecting leaders and establishing a genealogical record of the people who returned from Babylonian exile. Nehemiah 7:3: "And I said unto them, Do not open the doors of Jerusalem until the sun is hot, and while the porters are still there, lock the doors and lock them while they are still in Guard. I named some of Jerusalem's inhabitants as guards and also attribute to each one a section of the wall to repair. " Nehemiah names guards to protect the city and designates sections of the wall to be repaired by each of them.
