Chapter 2 of Sophonies talks about the imminent destruction that will come about the neighboring nations of Judah, including Moab, Ammon, Cux and Nineveh. The chapter ends with a call to repentance to the inhabitants of Judah so that they can be spared from the wrath of God. Below are five verses related to the topics covered in sophonies 2:
Isaiah 13:6: "howl, for the day of the Lord is near; it will come as a brush of the Almighty." This verse talks about the coming of the day of the Lord and its destructive nature, which relates to the prophecy of saponies about the destruction that will come over the nations.
Jeremiah 46:28: "Do not fear, O my servant, Jacob, says the Lord, because I am with you; for I will destroy all the nations among which I launched you; but I will not destroy at all, but I will punish you with measure , and in no way will I have you innocent. " This verse shows that although God punishes the nations for his disobedience, he still has a plan for his people, who relates to the call to repentance in Sophonies 2.
Isaiah 11:14: "But they will fly over the Philistine's shoulder to the West, together they will strip the children of the East; in Edom and root their hands, and the children of Ammon will obey them." This verse mentions Moab, Amom and Edom, who are some of the nations that Sophonies prophesied to be destroyed.
Jeremiah 50:29: "call Babylon the Arch Arch Arch against Babylon; camp against her around; no one escapes him according to his work; For if there was superb against the Lord, against the saint of Israel. " This verse talks about the punishment that will come upon Babylon for its disobedience, which relates to the prophecy of Sophonies about the destruction that will come over the nations.
Isaiah 55:6-7: "Seek the Lord as long as one can find, invoke him while he is near. Leave the wicked his way, and the evil man his thoughts, and convert to the Lord, who shall be sympathized; To our God, because it is great to forgive. " This verse talks about the importance of repentance, which is a call that Saponiah makes to the inhabitants of Judah at the end of chapter 2.
