Not only that, but we also glory in Tribulations, because we know that tribulation produces perseverance; perseverance, an approved character; and the approved character, hope. " Hope is highlighted as a fruit that arises from suffering and perseverance.

1 Peter 2:9: "But you are elected generation, royal priesthood, holy nation, exclusive people of God, to announce the greatness of the one who called them from darkness to their wonderful light." 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5: "God's will is that you are sanctified: to refrain from sexual immorality. Each one knows how to control his own body in a holy and honorable manner, not with the passion of unbridled desire, like them pagans who are unaware of God. " Holiness of life is a recurring theme in the Bible, and here we see the need to control our desires to live honorably.

Hebrews 12:14: "Seek to live in peace with all and sanctification; without it no one will see the Lord." Sanctification is again mentioned as something essential to see God and live in peace with the people around us.
