17. Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound thee before them.

In this verse, Paul reports his own call to be an apostle and how God chose him and enabled him to be a testimony of his grace. Like Paul and Jeremiah, God calls his servants to be his witnesses before the world.

2 Timothy 1:7: "For God has not given us a spirit of cowardice, but of power, love and balance." This verse emphasizes that although we may feel intimidated or fearful in fulfilling God's will, He has given us the spirit of power and love to overcome these difficulties. It is a reminder that, like Jeremiah, we can trust God to enable us and strengthen ourselves in our mission.
