12. What he had seen was this: Onias, the former high priest, that paragon of men, modest of bearing and gentle of manners, suitably eloquent and trained from boyhood in the practice of every virtue -- Onias was stretching out his hands and praying for the whole Jewish community.

Chapter 15 of 2 Maccabees narrates the final battle between the Jews led by Judas Macabeu and the forces of the Antiochus. During battle, Judas and his men trust God to protect them and overcome war. Below are five verses related to the topics covered in this chapter:

Isaiah 41:10: "Do not fear, because I am with you; do not haunt yourself, because I am your God; I strengthen you, and help you, and I support you with my faithful right hand." God promises to be with Judas and his men during battle, strengthen them, help them, and support them with their right hand.

1 Corinthians 15:57: "But thank God who gives us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." Judas and his men recognize that victory is possible only through God, and thank him for giving them victory.

2 Timothy 4:7: "I fought the good fight, I finished my career, I kept the faith." Judas and his men bravely fight the final battle, trusting God to protect them and, in the end, can overcome the good fight.
