Zechariah chapter 2 begins with a vision of the prophet over a man with a measurement tape that represents the restoration and protection of Jerusalem. The chapter also speaks of the coming of the Messiah and the call for the exiles to gather in Jerusalem. Following are five verses related to the topics addressed in Zechariah 2:
Isaiah 40:1-2: "Console, comfort my people, say your God. Speak to the heart of Jerusalem, shouting to him that the time of his militia is already ended, that his iniquity is forgiven and that he has already received in double the Lord's hand, by all his sins. " This verse speaks of the consolation of God's people and the forgiveness of their sins, which is an important theme in the book of Zechariah.
