1 Peter, 1

12. It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things which have now been announced to you by those who preached the good news to you through the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look.

Romans 5:2-5: "Through Him (Jesus) we have also obtained access, by faith, to this grace in which we are now firm; and we glory in the hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we also glory in Tribulations, because we know that tribulation produces perseverance; perseverance, an approved character; and the approved character, hope. " Hope is highlighted as a fruit that arises from suffering and perseverance.

1 Peter 2:9: "But you are elected generation, royal priesthood, holy nation, exclusive people of God, to announce the greatness of the one who called them from darkness to their wonderful light." 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5: "God's will is that you are sanctified: to refrain from sexual immorality. Each one knows how to control his own body in a holy and honorable manner, not with the passion of unbridled desire, like them pagans who are unaware of God. " Holiness of life is a recurring theme in the Bible, and here we see the need to control our desires to live honorably.

Hebrews 12:14: "Seek to live in peace with all and sanctification; without it no one will see the Lord." Sanctification is again mentioned as something essential to see God and live in peace with the people around us.
