11. And as since the time that I commanded judges [to be] over my people Israel, and have caused thee to rest from all thine enemies. Also the LORD telleth thee that he will make thee an house.

Being a prophet, he knew that God had Promised with an oath that one of his descendants would settle on his throne. Predicting this, David spoke of the resurrection of Christ, that he was not abandoned in Hades, nor did his body experience corruption. " Peter quotes David to demonstrate that Jesus' resurrection is evidence of God's faithfulness to the promise of eternal descent to David.
