13. Whosoever toucheth the dead body of any man that is dead, and purifieth not himself, defileth the tabernacle of the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from Israel: because the water of separation was not sprinkled upon him, he shall be unclean; his uncleanness [is] yet upon him.

Numbers 19 talks about the ordinance of the red cow, a ritual of purification for those who touched a corpse or were in contact with a dead person. The red cow, which should be completely red and without defect, was sacrificed outside the camp and its ashes were used to prepare the water of purification. Those who were unclean needed to be aspergated with the water of purification on the third and seventh day so that they could be considered clean again.
