2 Samuel 19 describes David's restoration as king of Israel after Absalom's death. The chapter begins with David's pain and mourning for his son's death and then presents David's meeting with his followers and Israeli leaders. Psalm 30:5: "For your wrath lasts only a moment; in your favor is life. Crying can last a night, but joy comes in the morning." This psalm expresses David's confidence in the restoration of joy and the renewal of life after a period of sadness and pain.
