Jeremiah, 31

9. In tears they will return, in prayer I shall lead them. I shall guide them to streams of water, by a smooth path where they will not stumble. For I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my first-born son.

Jeremiah 31 is a chapter that talks about the restoration of Israel after exile. God promises to bring His people back to the land of Judah and renew their covenant with them. Isaiah 43:19: "Behold, I will do something new, now will it go to light; perhaps, do not realize? Behold, I will put a path in the desert and rivers in the wild." Just as God promises to do something new in Jeremiah 31:22, Isaiah 43:19 also talks about God doing something new to his people.
