6. Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a branch -- and withers; these branches are collected and thrown on the fire and are burnt.

John chapter 15 contains Jesus' words about the true vine and its branches. He teaches the importance of remaining in him and his commandments to produce fruits. John 17:14: "I have given them thy word, and the world hated them, because they are not in the world, just as I am not in the world." Just as Jesus teaches that the world will hate his disciples because of the love that have one another, this verse highlights the separation between the followers of Christ and the world.

1 John 4:7: "Beloved, we love each other, for love is of God; and all who loves is born of God and knows God." This verse emphasizes the importance of love among the followers of Christ, just as Jesus teaches in John 15:12-13 that they must love each other as He loved them.
