34. And the spirit of Yahweh clothed Gideon around; he sounded the horn and Abiezer rallied behind him.

Gideon was a weak and incapable man, but God used him to defeat the Midianites, thus showing his power and his grace.

1 Samuel 17:45: "David said to the Philistine, 'You come against me with a sword, spear and dart, but I go against you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the hosts of Israel, whom you challenged. '"This verse speaks of the importance of trusting God in times of difficulty. David trusted God to defeat Goliath, and Gideon also trusted God to lead the Israelites against the Midianites. Both men believed that God was with them and could do great things through Him.
