Exodus, 7

17. By this you shall learn that I am Yahweh: Look, I will strike the waters of the Nile with the staff I have in my hand, and they will turn into blood!

Exodus 7:22 - "Then the wizards of Egypt did the same with their enchantments; and the heart of Pharaoh hardened, and did not hear them, as the Lord had said." Exodus 7:25 - "And seven days passed after the Lord wounded the river." This verse marks the end of the first plague, and shows how God's pests were progressively getting worse and lasting longer, intensifying the pressure on Pharaoh to release the Hebrews.
