7. Then they said to one another, "Come, let us cast lots to find out on whose account we have met with this misfortune." So they cast lots, and thus singled out Jonah.

Proverbs 21:30: "There is no wisdom, no intelligence, no advice against the Lord." The chapter of Jonas 1 clearly illustrates the uselessness of trying to escape the call of God. Acts 27:25: "Therefore, O men, tend to good courage; for I believe in God, that it will happen as I was told." In this chapter of Acts, Paul is facing a storm on the high seas and encourages others to trust God. Like Jonas, the sailors in Acts learn to trust God during a storm at sea.
