9. And so they went out. And surveying it, they divided it into seven parts, writing it in a book. And they returned to Joshua, to the camp at Shiloh.

Joshua 18 deals with the distribution of the remaining land among the tribes of Israel, after Joshua finished winning most of Canaan. Deuteronomy 19:14: "Thou shalt not take away the milestones of his neighbor, which the ancestors placed in your sonships, on the earth that is giving you the Lord, thy God, by possession." Isaiah 54:2: "The place of your tent, and extend the curtains of your dwellings; do not hinder it; your strings, and fix your stakes well." This verse talks about growth and expansion. In Joshua 18, the distribution of land allowed the tribes of Israel to settle into new areas and grow as a nation.
