2. But they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but serve them the rather, because they are faithful and beloved, who are partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.

This verse highlights the importance of not worrying about getting rich and accumulating riches, in line with the teaching of 1 Timothy 6 about the need not to put our confidence in material wealth.

1 Timothy 6:10 (another chapter): "Because love of money is the root of all ills. Some people, eager for money, have deviated from faith and tormented themselves with many sufferings." This verse reinforces the message of 2 Timothy 2:22 and highlights the importance of maintaining a life of righteousness and holiness, rather than being led by carnal desires.
