Psalm 107 is a hymn of thanks to God for his kindness and mercy to rescue those who call for help in situations of distress. The psalmist describes four situations where people call for help: dangers in the desert, prison, illness and storm at sea. In each situation, the people cry out for help and God rescues them. Psalm 146:7-8: "He does justice to the oppressed and give bread to the hungry. The Lord frees the prisoners." This verse talks about God releasing those who are arrested, as described in the imprisonment situation in Psalm 107.
