Hosea, 13

2. And now they add that they will be sinning more. And they have made themselves an image cast from their silver, just like the image of idols; but the whole thing has been made by craftsmen. These say to them, “Sacrifice men, you who adore calves.”

Chapter 13 of Hosea begins with a warning of God to the people of Israel about his idolatry and infidelity, reminding them of the punishment that is to come. Then the judgment God will make upon them is described because of His rebellion. Hosea compares Israel to a useless vine that does not produce fruits, and laments its imminent destruction. Jeremiah 2:13: "For my people have committed two evils: They abandoned me the source of living water, and dug their own cisterns, cracked cisterns that do not retain water." This verse talks about the choice of the people of Israel to abandon God and seek other sources of satisfaction, which will lead to their own destruction.

Joel 1:7: "He rocked my vineyard and stripped my fig tree, peeling it completely and throwing it apart; This verse describes the destruction of God's vineyard, an image similar to those used by Hosea to describe Israel's situation.
