9. And when the prophet shall err, and speak a word: I the Lord have deceived that prophet: and I will stretch forth my hand upon him, and will cut him off from the midst of my people Israel.

Ezekiel 14 talks about divine rebuke to the idolatrous leaders of Israel who sought guidance from the prophet while still kept their idols in their hearts. Jeremiah 7:9-10: "You make theft, homicides, adultery and false oaths, incense in incense to Baal, and walk after other gods you have never known. Proverbs 1:28-29: "Then they will call me, but I will not answer; they will seek me, but they will not find me. For they bored science and did not prefer the fear of the Lord." This verse shows that those who despise the wisdom and fear of the Lord will not have their prayers heard.
