40. And Elijah said to them, “Apprehend the prophets of Baal, and do not let even one of them escape.” And when they had apprehended them, Elijah led them down to the torrent Kishon, and he put them to death there.

1 Kings 18 narrates the confrontation between the prophet Elijah and the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel. Elijah challenges Baal's prophets to make a sacrifice to their God and to invoke him to light the fire of sacrifice. Baal's prophets try, but to no avail. This verse highlights God's unity, and how he is the Father of all things, and how all things were created through Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
