7. And the angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise [and] eat; because the journey [is] too great for thee.

1 Kings 19 tells Elijah's story after having fled to the desert, tired and afraid of Queen Jezebel, who wanted to kill him. In this chapter, Elijah has an experience with God, listening to his voice in a "soft whisper." Moreover, God instructs Elijah to anoint a new king to Israel and a new prophet to succeed him. Psalm 46:10: "Issoid, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the Gentiles; I will be exalted upon the earth." Matthew 11:28-30: "Come to me, all who are tired and oppressed, and I will relieve you. " Just as Elijah was tired and oppressed, this verse shows us that we can find rest in Jesus, who is meek and humble of heart.

2 Kings 2:9: "And it happened that if they have passed, Elijah said to Elisha, Ask me what you want to do to you before it is taken from you. And Elisha said, I ask you that there is a double portion of yours Spirit upon me. " This verse shows how God was preparing Elisha to succeed Elijah as a prophet in Israel.
