St. Matthew 24 is known as the "Mount of Olives Speech", in which Jesus talks about the signs of the end times and his return. He describes the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem, wars, fames, earthquakes, persecution and the spread of the gospel all over the world. Here are five verses related to the topics covered in São Matthew 24:
Mark 13:7: "But when you hear from wars and rumors of war, you are not scary; it is necessary to happen, but it is not yet the end." Jesus talks about the wars and conflicts that will occur before the end of time, but warns that they are not an immediate sign of the end.
2 Timothy 3:1: "But this is: in the last days, difficult times will come." Paul warns Timothy that there will be difficult times at the end of time, marked by a growing lack of love and a search for personal pleasure.
Revelation 6:8: "And I looked, and here is a yellow horse and his knight, he was called death; and hell was following him, and was given authority over the fourth part of the earth to kill the sword, for the sword. Hunger, for death and through the beasts of the earth. " The book of Revelation describes the death and destruction that will occur in recent days, including the hunger and beasts of the earth.
Matthew 24:31: "And he will send his angels with a great trumpet clangor, who will gather the chosen from the four winds, from one end of the heavens." Jesus describes the coming of the angels to gather God's chosen ones at the end of time.
Revelation 22:20: "He who testifies these things says, Certainly, I come without delay. Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!" The book of Revelation ends with an appeal to the coming of Jesus, whom Christians await to come and reign in glory.
