Joshua, 8

33. And all Israel, stranger and native alike, with their elders, officers and judges, stood on either side of the ark facing the levitical priests who were carrying the ark of the covenant of the LORD. Half of them were facing Mount Gerizim and half Mount Ebal, thus carrying out the instructions of Moses, the servant of the LORD, for the blessing of the people of Israel on this first occasion.

Joshua chapter 8 describes the conquest of the city of Ai by the Israelites. Joshua 4:24: "That all the peoples of the earth may know that the hand of the Lord is strong, and that you may fear the Lord your God forever." This verse relates to the greater purpose of the conquest of Ai, which was to show God's power to the peoples of the earth and to make them fear the Lord.
