7. Therefore, tell my servant David, Thus says the LORD of hosts: I took you from the pasture, from following the sheep, that you might become ruler over my people Israel.

Jeremiah 23:5: "Days will come, the Lord declares, in which I will raise a righteous descendant, a king who will reign with wisdom and do what is just and correct on earth." This verse speaks of the prophecy that Jesus, descended from David, would reign as a righteous and wise king.
