10. So, truly, the sons of men are untrustworthy. The sons of men are liars in the scales, so that, by emptiness, they may deceive among themselves.

David feels downcast and distant from God, but trusts his mercy and power to help him overcome his problems and strengthen him. Psalm 46:1: "God is our refuge and fortress, a good help in anguish." This verse presents God as a refuge and fortress for those who need help in times of anguish, which is exactly what David seeks in Psalm 61.
